What is mango carabao?

Mango Carabao, also known as Philippine mango or Manila mango, is a popular variety of mango in the Philippines and is considered one of the sweetest mangoes in the world. It is named after the water buffalo, or carabao, which is the national animal of the Philippines.

The fruit is oblong-shaped and has a thin, yellow to orange skin that is covered with small white specks. The flesh is tender, juicy, and golden yellow in color. The flavor is sweet with a slightly acidic taste and a strong aroma.

Mango Carabao trees are medium-sized and can grow up to 10 to 15 meters tall, with a dense crown of leaves. They bear fruit twice a year, with the first harvest usually occurring in May and the second one in November. The fruit can be eaten fresh or used in various dishes, such as desserts, jams, and smoothies.

The Philippines is one of the world's largest producers of mangoes and the Mango Carabao is highly prized for its superior quality and taste. Several mango festivals are held in the Philippines, particularly in Guimaras Island, which is known for its Mango Carabao production.
